WALHAMPTON PARENTS' ASSOCIATION
The Walhampton Parents’ Association (WPA) is a vital and active part of the Walhampton school community, made up of parents and school staff, creating fun events for all, and fundraising.

The WPA and its volunteers work hard throughout the year to achieve its aims of:
1. Raising funds for the nominated school charity, chosen by our pupils.
2. Raising money for the Walhampton School Foundation Trust.
3. Raising money for the ‘Walhampton Wish List’.
4. Creating fun events and activities for everyone at Walhampton, young or old, to enjoy including Fireworks Night and the Summer Party.
It is made up of a volunteer group of parents, drawing on their wide range of professional experiences, to meet these objectives.

Our nominated school charity this year is:
• Helpful Hounds
Helpful Hounds Assistance Dogs is a charity, based locally to us in Bournemouth, that was started to help with the growing demand of, mainly young people who have a range of conditions who, with their family, would benefit greatly from having the support of an Assistance Dog.
Their objective is to help the person they support to achieve their maximum potential, whether that is educationally, socially or in a work opportunity.
Helpful Hounds use the term “Assistance Dog” to refer to one of their Helpful Hounds that works to support people with autism, down's syndrome, physical disabilities or for those who require them to alert the onset of a medical situation such as diabetes or epilepsy.

The Wish List is a list of resources for the school requested by parents or teachers and is paid for from the WPA’s fundraising efforts.
Fundraising for the school is a greatly valued part of the role of the WPA. The fund should benefit as many in the school as possible and money raised is specifically for projects that cannot be covered by school fees, but enhance the children's experience at school.
Most recently, the WPA has funded a new outside tennis table, indoor training bikes for triathlon club and fitness, outdoor play equipment for the Pre-Prep and a suite of keyboards for the music department.

The WPA organises several popular events throughout the school calendar with the aim of both having fun and raising funds. These range from Easter Egg hunts to Fireworks Night and a Summer Party for parents at the end of the school year.
Whilst the WPA committee is responsible for overall fundraising, they rely on the help and support from the whole school community and always welcome volunteers. And it is thanks to the generosity of Walhampton families that the WPA events are so successful.

It takes a whole village to raise a child.
