EXPEDITIONS WEEK
A true Walhampton tradition, Expeditions Week takes place towards the end of the summer term and all children from Year 3 to Year 8 spend typically 5 days on an outdoor pursuits adventure. The nature of the trip and the activities increases in skill as the children move through Walhampton.
DESTINATIONS
Our Year 3 pupils take part in day trips local to the New Forest and Isle of Wight including crabbing, sailing, bird of prey adventures and the seawater baths. Year 4 take part in ‘Lodge Camp’ spending two nights camping at Walhampton whilst enjoying a full week of outdoor activities.
From Year 5 children take on a residential adventure for the week and our current trips are:
- Year 5 – Tapnell Farm, Isle of Wight
- Year 6 – Brenscombe, Isle of Purbeck
- Year 7 – Isle of Mull
- Year 8 – Ultimate Adventure, Devon
Expeditions Week provides the children with an opportunity to spend time away from home, take part in team building activities and gain an increased understanding of themselves as well as their friends.
ISLE OF MULL
Year 7 visit School House on the Isle of Mull which is a deep rooted Walhampton tradition where even the journey is a true adventure. In a very much back to basics trip, the children camp and take part in activities including hiking, coasteering, kayaking, climbing, maintenance of the School House and enjoying the breathtaking Scottish scenery.
