Friendship & Care

Pastoral Care

High quality pastoral care is central to our ethos. Along with excellent standards of teaching and learning, caring and looking after each other is the foundation of everything we do.

-

All school staff operate an open door policy for children and their parents or guardians: our overarching approach to pastoral care is to work with parents, children and teachers to solve any difficulties however big or small.

We also make sure we have the right systems and processes in place. For example, our Deputy Head and Head of pastoral care works closely with the Heads of Seniors and Juniors and our safeguarding officers to ensure all aspects of pastoral school life are addressed and handled in a professional and compassionate way. Weekly pastoral team meetings include the Headmaster, Head of Safeguarding, Deputy Head of Pre-Prep and Deputy Head / Head of pastoral care. This ensures consistency in our approach - and that a child’s wellbeing stays at the forefront of their education.

Within the Prep School, Year 8 patrol leaders act as role models for younger children. This helps ensure a sense of teamwork and an inclusive structure so youngsters always have someone to talk to and guide them. We provide all children with access to an independent person who acts as an outside liaison point.
