Our Student Work
We are delighted to share some examples of our pupils' work.
Our pupils enjoy the opportunity to display their work and take great pride in celebrating their academic and extra-curricular successes.
Toby - Year 8
Toby and the Turtle
"We have been learning to calculate areas of different polygons. Our task was to create an animal that has an exact area of 800cm2, using at least one of each of the following shapes: square, rectangle, trapezium, parallelogram, rhombus, kite, right angled triangle, isosceles triangle, equilateral triangle, circle and semi-circle.
Why a turtle? My inspiration for a turtle was that I liked the symmetrical nature and the geometry of the shell. I thought it would be a good choice for making a 3D display. There were lots of different possibilities to create the shape. I learned how to find out areas and create a symmetrical pattern. It also made you think about things from a different starting point. Here is an area, what would the shape look like. Rather than here is a shape, what is its area?
I enjoyed Maths because it is a key skill to use. I have fun working with numbers. We do lots of different things including practical work, puzzles and investigations as well as problem solving. It is something I feel I am good at."
