The Perry Dalziell cross-country was a great success.

Walhampton cross-country

This year the school welcomed a record number of 17 schools to Walhampton’s Perry Dalziell cross-country race. It was thrilling to see so many excited and enthusiastic children set off. With nearly 180 children in each race, it was a huge spectacle at the start.  As well as all the runners, we also welcomed Ben Vessey, Headmaster of Canford School, who kindly gave out the medals at the prize giving.

Walhampton win Perry Dalziell

It was clear from the variety of different schools represented at the medal ceremony, how much work the children had put into preparing for this event.  Walhampton enjoyed their fair share of success, winning the U9 Girls & U11 Boys team categories and coming second in the U11 girls & U10 Boys. The climax of the prize giving is finding out which school has won the overall trophy and it is always a close run competition. This year it was lovely to read out that Walhampton had won the Perry Dalziell once again, rounding off a terrific term for all our sports teams. A huge thank you to parents who made a donation for the tea and cake. The £187 raised has gone to Holly Nicholls’ fundraising efforts. Holly is taking part in a  breast cancer run for her mum Gail, we wish her the best of luck.
