Walhampton welcomes 27 prep schools to the Junior Wessex Athletics Championships 2014

Walhampton was delighted to once again host the Junior Wessex Athletics Championships 2014. We welcomed over a 1000 parents and children from Prep schools across the Wessex region.

Boys and girls from Years 3 to 5 competed against each other in a number of track and field events.

All the athletics showed fantastic sporting camaraderie and supported each other through out the day.

The athletics event ended as the Red Arrows staged a spectacular display over the roof of the school. It was wonderful to watch the world-class aerial acrobatic team mark the 70th anniversary of the Normandy landings.

The 21-minute routine formed part of a major D-Day commemoration at Newtown Park, Boldre, which is near a former airfield used during the build-up to the invasion.
